Wow! First comment! And what an honor, because this piece is absolutely beautiful! I love how you've captured Severus's mysterious, malevolent, and intelligent nature all in one piece. And when I say intelligent, some people may ask: "how can a painting display a characters intelligence, when most of the face is obscured by hair?". Well...its in his eyes. Don't you think?

Beautiful. I  Snape. (And I mean that strictly as a fictional character, because if we were honest with ourselves... half of us Severus fangirls would probably despise him if he lived next door to us. He's just that kind of guy. Whether he's deeply misunderstood or not... he's one nasty piece of work.)

Wow, thank you for the lovely compliment! I'm glad my intentions came through in this piece. I wanted it to portray a rounded character, not just a face with a name attached.

And I fully agree. I love the character but I don't think I'd want to really meet him. >_> He's a bit on the spooky side for sure.

I agree with your very astute first poster in all but one thing: I still think I would be at his house harassing him everyday if he lived next door. My dad was very snape-like in personality, and I still loved him. He was an asshat sometimes, but I still loved him.

Haha, I don't know. I have my days when I decide that it would be worth the life-risking to bother him constantly. I suppose it depends on which set of fankids I've been talking to that day. ^_^ Thanks a bunch for the comment. :D

I'm probably one of those fangirls that'd be over there atleast once a week ^^ to see if he's as good a chef as he is a potions maker. (You would think the two'd go hand in hand :3).

Anyway, back on topic. This is lovely-the monochrome suits him very well. (Of course, I wouldn't be able to see what little color there is (if any) 'cause I'm stealing mum's computer for the week and her monitor settings aren't as art-oriented as mine.) I echo your first commenters, his expression is perfect-though I would add (and this is maybe from too many debates on virtue vs vice and psychology and everything ^^") that I sense 'If you loved me, would you follow me through blind darkness?' behind the eyes. But meh, I could be reading into things. 'Tis a good (and sexy) piece. You always seem to know how to bring the character out :).

I'd have to agree with you there. Cooking is chemistry, right? ^-^

Color would have looked odd on him, since he has none of his own with that skin and hair. Ooh, I like your interpretation of his expression. Read into things all you want, art is supposed to mean something but not always the same something to everyone. Thank you very much! :)

Aye, cooking is chemistry (Which is funny, 'cause I'm a (reasonably) good cook yet I nearly flunked chem class ^^). Whooray for Alton Brown and Good Eats!

Anyway (back on topic) I have two questions to ask you:

1.) May I use/reference to this in a fic I'm writing? (plenty of Slytherins in it) and 2.) would you be interested in beta-reading said fic?

I'm not nearly finished with it, but I would like to get it up in a few places soon. I'll message you the details if you're interested. ^^

Thanks (for all the good art and all) :)

Heh, same here. But then my chemistry teacher was an insane woman who liked to tell us tales of losing a finger and having her skin grafted after an explosion. o.o; Sometimes I think she only gave me a low grade because she was bitter about that.

1. Of course you can. I'm flattered!
2. I definitely would. :) Go ahead.

D'aw, you're so nice. ^_^
