The Halloween Project: Day 20
I have a feeling this daily painting thing is going to get REALLY hard once the Guild Wars Halloween Event launches. XD

In retrospect I should have painted the same little girl from Pumpkin Patch here, but I'd already done that lovely long brown hair by that point and I wasn't willing to repaint. :) I've been working on this one for a while now, too. I half-started a bunch when I set this challenge for myself just in case, and boy am I glad that I did!

Messy messy oil tools were used. :D I love the way they smear together and how the colors interact with each other. And look, I pretended to do a background!
Refs used, Painter IX.

Firstly, I have to say that I think the brown hair is 100% amazing - You captured the lighting perfectly. Your pupkin looks cute as well and I'm glad to see a different child to be honest as you've been able to show off this amazing hair instead :D

Secondly, I agree with Draikairion (Sorry I don't know how you link stuff yet I'm new to the site) that the hands are a little soft, yet they are amazingly drawn. I'm terrible at hands and feet (Well I'm not great at people altogether but hands and feet especially).

I'm :+fav:ing a lot of your work and will try to add comments to them all over the week but I can't promise that they will all be done by then. I'm also sending you a llama and adding you to my watch list as I love so much of your work.

Hands and hair are the things that I've heard a lot of artists hate to draw, but I love them. Faces too! Feet...those are another story hahaha.

 You're spoiling me with these lovely comments. Thank you so much!

I know a fair amount of artists hate doing hands and feet but everyone is different in art, so it's great - I meant to go through the rest of your gallery yesterday but forgot :( I'll check it out after work ^_^

 You're welcome - I'd rather comment & fave rather than just fave but when I like a lot of one artist's work I just have to :+fav: the drawings and add a general/overall comment, so you'll probably hear from me later :D

This is FANTASTIC! I love the gorgeous lighting and yummy colors. If I can suggest something, you seem to paint using a lot of soft brushes. Perhaps try hardening some of them a bit. The hands are incredible but seem blurry. Just a thought ;)

Thank you! You're right, my painting has gotten progressively "blurrier" as I've gone. I kind of like the effect myself, but trying new styles is always fun. :D Thanks for commenting!

I love it! xDD Even though yo used a different girl I'm going to continue the story from where it was left off.

I run inside, excited. "Mommy, Daddy," I call. "I'm ready to give my pumpkin a smile!" My parent come downstairs with cheerful smiles. Mommy and Daddy never fight whenever I carve my pumpkin for Halloween. They help me set up a place in the kitchen and I begin to carve. I give the pumpkin a jagged smile and a triangle nose. My parents help me once in a while because carving a pumpkin is a lot of work. I carve the first triangle eye. I grin at my parents and say in my bell-like voice, "Almost done." My parents nod happily and watch as I begin the last eye.

That was so sweet. :) Carving a pumpkin used to be a big deal at my house when my sister and I were still really young.
